Most people’s wish,
whether they say it out loud or just to themselves, is to be sexy. Slimmer
people tend to look more pleasant and healthy. But there are a lot of factors
in our environment that makes us gain those extra pounds – stress, binge
eating, pregnancy, genes. However, if we look closely at ourselves and reflect
for a moment, we know that whatever the root of the problem may be, we can
start shedding off extra pounds by an easy
weight loss trick: watching what we eat.
First of all, decide to
yourself that what you are going to do is not merely a diet, but a change of
lifestyle. As what we have witnessed over the coming and going of diet fads,
almost none of them survived and none of them are 100% effective. You need a
lifestyle that fits you best and attends to your personal nutritional needs.
Start by knowing your
ideal weight. If you stand around 6 feet, you cannot have an ideal weight of
100 pounds. There is an ideal weight to match every height and body type. Once
you have identified the weight you wish for, set realistic goals. Taking baby
steps is reasonable – you can fix your goal at shedding a few pounds on the
first two weeks, then pick up the pace and goal for even more pounds per week.
Taking before and after photos can also boost your confidence once you see for
yourself how much you have slimmed down.
Choosing the right food
can be tricky. For instance, not all fruits are helpful for toning down fats.
Bananas and peaches contain high amount of starch, which is why these fruits
are not recommended for frequent consumption if you are trying to lose weight.
Amplify your consumption of fiber-rich foods. Fibers help cleanse our body of
harmful toxins and keep our internal organs at their pristine condition. Healthy
organs, especially the liver, burn fat faster and stabilize our metabolism. You
should also start preparing your own meals and snacks. It is recommended to
have three smaller meals and three light snacks in between them, on a regular
interval throughout the day. Eating less but more frequently will help your
body feel fuller for longer without the negative effects of overeating.
On the other hand, the
first things to ditch are fast foods. These are nutrient-deprived foods which
are packed with trans fat. In the same line, keep your eyes peeled for foods
with high fructose corn syrup or HFCS. HFCS is commonly found in sodas and
fruit-flavored drinks and is known to induce weight gain. You should also cut
your sugar and salt, as well as your consumption of white flour products such
as white flour bread and refined pasta (they contain starch which is digested
to be sugar, and sugar as you know is bad for your new health plan.
These might be easy weight loss techniques, but
remember not to overdo it. Just remember to maintain your priorities and you
will get to Slim Town in no time.
